| DistRunner | Oct 7, 2007 6:03am | Hi there,
It has been one month since I started Yoga, 4-5 days a week and OMG.... I am seriously more flexible, relaxed and my core strength (back/abs) has completely eliminated any lower back issues I've been having for years.... I would not believe this if it were not physically true.

I've been practicing yoga for about 2 and a half years now, first starting of with Astanga, then moving to Bikram after the first year. Let me tell you, it has tremendously changed my life. I feel more focused, and in my music practices, I'm able to concentrate better, think quicker on my feet. I've noticed that my reaction time to anything, from making decisions, to catching a cup on its way to impeding doom, has strengthened.
I plan on opening my own yoga practice after I get certified to teach Astanga. |

There are so many classic and new age yogas that you can practice that can bring health benefits.
But everything you are doing in yoga is for the body.
You are not the body.
The body is the "car" with which you move around in the material world.
The body is programmed to live 60-100 yrs and then die.
And when your body dies, all that you achieved through yoga also die.
Yoga is good to start you on the journey back home.
You have to start where you are, which is the body, and yoga is the springboard.
But you cannot cling to it and stop there and build a house on it because it is temporary.
The body is like a motel. It is not your home.
So, all the home improvements and re-decorations are only temporary.
You have to use yoga to go beyond the body and then keep moving on until you reach your home.
Where is your home? Do you know? Can you tell me if you do?
You can find out if you don't know already, by discovering SCOGOSTOLOGY/GALAHUMANISM

I think these points would be more relevant on a thread that was discussion yoga itself. |

| MariaYG | Oct 27, 2007 12:57pm | Hello to everyone!
I've been doing Yoga for more than 5 years and it changed my life in a way that I can slightly remember how it was before that - such a smooth transition in all the aspects of my living! It's not only the physical "ability" to stretch, it is the spiritual "stretching" of the "view" so that one can "see" and sense beyond the material plane we share, it is the inner stillness and pure joy of living, being and giving...
Kindest regards!

| | | Nilla91 | Feb 12, 2:48pm | | I'm in a beginners yoga group that focuses mostly on your breath in relation to movement. I forget the term for this type. It's not very challanging yet but it's still very empowering for the mind and it relaxes me. I've also noticed I'm able to focus better on daily tasks and projects (i have a learning disablity)I've only been practicing yoga for about half a yr. but I plan to make it a big part of my life. Namaste! ~Lauren |
