 | 97397 | Oct 13, 2004 11:40am | | Why do so many people get upset over the word religion and use the term spirituality? I watch tv and see 'Religious' tv evagelists trying to make a buck then I go down to the local new age bookstore and I find a lot of con artists there trying to make a buck claiming their 'Spiritual'. To me, it's all about trying to walk a path and being giuded by divine energy as I walk the path. so I really don't care what people call it or label me. do you know what I mean? |

| DeeJay | Oct 16, 2004 10:54pm | | Dear DP: I think the preference for the term "spiritual" over "religious" comes from many people wanting to maintain a connection to the divine, eternal, or whatever while disagreeing with many of the social or political beliefs of particular religious organizations. I do agree with you that there are a lot of people selling "spirituality" and a tremendous amount of hucksterism in many new age beliefs. I think it is great if you feel in contact with a divine source--people experience this in so many different ways. To me, its a very personal experience that I have difficulty sharing with others. Best wishes, DJ. |

So people shy away from tags, personally I don't like calling anyone or anything names, they pigeon hole and are far too limiting...Just because we name something doesn't mean we know anything about it... |
